Over the past several years, there has seemingly been a tremendous increase in the number of news stories regarding significant data breaches. Those stories have no doubt contributed to statistics such as this one, which indicated that “39% of employees said they’d be extremely likely or likely, to purchase identity theft protection through payroll deduction“.
To help employees even further in that regard, Blue Cross Blue Shield has announced that all of its plans will offer free identity protection to eligible members by January 1, 2016.
For members that opt-in, the free services provided will include:
- Credit monitoring
- Fraud detection
- Credit and identity repair
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has said that it expects to select which identity protection services vendor it will work with by the end of July.
Please stay tuned to CBG Benefits as more information is provided about this offering. This may be an excellent benefit for employers to mention during the upcoming open enrollment season, and it certainly may be one that many employees welcome and utilize in the months and years to come.
